Attorney Karen Kenner Scott is a legal professional with a concentration in the fields of real estate transactions and litigation in addition to business and corporate matters. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the esteemed University of Georgia in 2009, followed by her Juris Doctor from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School in 2012. Prior to joining the law firm Williams Teusink, attorney Scott garnered invaluable experience as an Assistant Solicitor General in both Fulton and DeKalb County. In DeKalb, she served as a Deputy Chief Assistant Solicitor General, where she skillfully led her unit to achieve successful prosecutions in numerous land use, zoning, and code enforcement cases.
Attorney Scott’s exceptional legal prowess has earned her several notable accolades. She was honored as a recipient of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys Scholarship and the National Black Law Students Association Rodney Pulliam Scholarship. Additionally, attorney Scott’s outstanding contributions to the legal field were recognized through the Rising Star award from the New Rock Legal Society and the prestigious Michael Hancock award from the DeKalb Lawyers Association. Her unwavering dedication to community service has been acknowledged through her receipt of the Deans Award on five separate occasions.
In her professional capacity, attorney Scott is dedicated to galvanizing women in the legal profession. Attorney such as the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys and the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers. In 2018, attorney Scott was selected to serve as a member of the Emerging Leaders of DeKalb. In 2023 she was selected to GABWA’s Judicial Public Official Academy. Most recently she was selected to participate in the 2024 GAWL Leadership Academy.
Beyond her professional endeavors, attorney Scott is deeply committed to serving her community. She actively engages in various roles at her children’s school, including serving on the School Council. Additionally, she takes great pride in her membership in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. She also serves as a board member for the non-profit organization More than Conquerors Incorporated.
Attorney Scott finds equal fulfillment in her personal life, as she is happily married to Roderick Scott and takes immense pride in being the mother of two exceptional young girls.
